We strive to ensure only the highest quality therapeutic and community recreation programs, as well as other specialized services make it into our ranks. Our membership application process is defined around three key steps for success:
- Proof of good standing as a non-profit
- Justification of effective programming
- Acceptable rating by program participants
Our membership provides programs of excellence that support Recreation, Specialized, as well as Support services. This allows R4 to have impact across the veteran community and ensure networking of a variety of skills to address veteran needs.
Our main focus is on Recreation services. In recognition of the strengths of both approaches, we split these into two categories Therapeutic and Community Based.
Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Programs: To be a TR member a program must have licensed professionals on staff working directly with clients. These programs must also have in place a follow-up protocol. Examples of licensed professionals: CTRS, MSW, LSW, PT, OT, Counselors. (i.e., partial list).
Community Recreation Programs: Must be available in home communities on an ongoing basis and run by professionals and/or knowledgeable volunteers.
Within the Specialized services, we facilitate proven programs of excellence that provide career planning, service animals, and a host of other services to help the veteran and their family assimilate back into society.
Our third area is the Support services by members who provide specialized services that independently support the veteran and family, or offer additional gifts and skills to other members to enhance their support.
