James L. Joyner-A ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate of the Oklahoma Military Academy and the University of Oklahoma, Jim entered the Army as a 2d LT in 1962 as a field Artillery officer and spent over 20 years serving his country. Highly skilled he became a paratrooper and Ranger with the 82 Airborne Division. Flight school followed and ultimately Jim was both fixed and rotory wing qualified, became a Master Army Aviator and logged over 4000 hours. He served two flying tours in the Republic of Viet Nam and one in the Fulda Gap of Germany. After briefly leaving the Army in 1969, Jim re-entered the army through the Minnesota National Guard. Requesting active duty, he served as the Guard’s Army Aviation liaison to such organizations as the US Army Aviation School and the Forces Command. Jim Joyner was an outstanding soldier, a brilliant Army Aviator and his service reflects great credit upon his self and the family who supported him.
