About William Potter

William S. Potter, aka “Potter”, graduated from the University of Arizona in 1967. He survived the rigors of the Engineer’s OCS at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia and completed his military service in 1970 in Vietnam. His private sector career allowed him executive/directorship opportunities in the food service, electrical manufacturing, agriculture, and information technology industries. While business travels took him country-wide, Potter and wife Linda raised three daughters in Miami and San Diego. Now retired in Hailey, Idaho, Potter has time to concentrate more on his passion of “giving back” to a country that has been so good to him and his family. While living in San Diego, Potter combined his passion for golf and “giving back” by taking a leadership role in the Century Club of San Diego whose mission is to represent the PGA Tour in that market. The organization’s responsibility is to host the PGA event at the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course and distribute net proceeds to local charities. As San Diego is home for numerous military commands, Potter helped create a military appreciation component to the tournament. As club president and tournament chairman, Potter grew that segment of the tournament to unprecedented levels. Now residing in the Sun Valley, Idaho area, that same passion drives Potter to continue “giving back” to Our Military Family. In 2012, Potter joined the board of Higher Ground Sun Valley (HG). Impressed with HG’s success in treating members of Our Military Family locally through recreation therapy, he wanted to expand that theme nationally through existing Adaptive Sports organizations. The R4 Alliance is the vehicle through which this expansion is now possible.
